Mrs. Purdy and Mrs. Laatsch’s classes at Lincoln Elementary School recently competed in a National SumDog Math Contest. SumDog is a math app that students use on their iPads, and is free for schools as well as students and their families at home. SumDog is a way for students to practice math skills while playing fun math-related games. The games are individualized to meet each student’s ability. As the student works through the curriculum, the teacher is able to monitor their progress and address any areas of concern.
In the contest, each of the 5th grade students were given 1000 questions over a 7 day period. They were in competition with students from across the nation. Mrs. Laatsch’s class placed 1st, and Mrs. Purdy’s class placed 3rd in the National Math Contest! Great job, Eagles!!
For their success, each classroom received 3-6 months of upgraded resources to SumDog, including spelling, writing, and reading!
