HCCSC's first priority is safety within our schools, and we take that responsibility very seriously. If a child does not feel safe and secure while attending school, then their ability to learn is greatly diminished.
School safety is a growing national concern, and our community has to be proactive in implementing safety procedures. We take a collaborative approach to safety and security — our staff and school resource officers work closing with our local law enforcement and emergency responders routinely to stay alert and ready.
On September 6, we released a video to address questions that parents have expressed regarding school safety. Mr. Harris, Sheriff Stoffel, and Chief Hacker explain the steps that are taken to keep HCCSC students and staff safe when a reported threat occurs.
This video builds on topics that were discussed in the School Safety Town Hall on April 3, 2018 at Huntington North High School. For more information about HCCSC's policies and practices designed to keep our students and staff safe, you can watch the recorded livestream of this meeting here: https://livestream.com/HNHS/events/8140715
In a follow up Facebook Live session to address school safety at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 14, Mr. Harris will answer your questions and comments in real time. The replay can be viewed on our Facebook page.
