Andrews Elementary receives winter hat and gloves donation

Partners 1st Federal Credit Union donated 60 winter hats, gloves and mittens to Andrews Elementary SchoolAndrews Elementary School was on the receiving end of a generous donation on Friday morning, as Partners 1st Federal Credit Union in Huntington assembled a box of winter hats and gloves to gift to the school to distribute to students in need.

In all, Partners 1st Federal Credit Union’s employees collected 60 winter hats, gloves and mittens for the donation as part of the organization’s annual Warm Hands and Warm Bellies community project.

This year’s initiative began on Nov. 13 and ran until Christmas. Local restaurants also participated by giving gift cards to Partners 1st Federal Credit Union to incentivize more employee donations.

“This is definitely a community project with the help of our generous credit union members and some wonderful restaurants in town working together to give back to our community,” said Partners 1st Federal Credit Union Huntington Branch Sales Manager Beth Blocker. “Our credit union is honored to give back and help out our community with this successful project!”

Andrews Principal Amy Rudolf and Andrews Counselor Mindy Reust were present to accept the donation at the Partners 1st Federal Credit Union branch in Huntington.

“I am grateful for the community of Huntington and Partners 1st Credit Union members for their generous support of our students,” Rudolf said. “Our students will appreciate hats, gloves and mittens as we brave another Indiana winter.”

In addition, Partners 1st Federal Credit Union raised 210 non-perishable food items and cash to donate to the Love INC food bank in Huntington as part of the Warm Hands and Warm Bellies project.
