Huntington County Community Schools Names Chuck Brimbury as Superintendent

Huntington, IN— The Huntington County Community School Board of Trustees voted on Monday, March 23, 2026, to appoint Chuck Brimbury as the next Superintendent of Huntington County Community Schools, effective immediately.  Brimbury, who has served as HCCS Director of Secondary Education since 2022 and as Interim Superintendent since November 2025, becomes the 10th superintendent in HCCS history.

The appointment follows a rigorous, months-long nationwide search.  The Board reviewed a pool of 14 applicants, conducted first-round interviews with five finalists during the week of February 16-20, and invited three candidates back for more intensive second interviews the week of February 23-27.  Board President Tim Allen noted that the board collectively invested many hours in assessing candidate experience, leadership philosophy, financial acumen, and connection to the Huntington community.

“As we mentioned before, the selection and evaluation of a superintendent for HCCS is one of the most important responsibilities for our school board,” said Board President Allen.  “The board spent countless hours assessing the experience and abilities of all the candidates.  Those three remaining candidates all had outstanding interviews, which made the choice very difficult.”

The process was guided by Steve Horton of the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA), whose great expertise in superintendent searches provided critical structure and support throughout.

Brimbury brings more than 30 years of education leadership to the role. Before joining HCCS, he served at Peru Community Schools in multiple capacities, most notably as Superintendent from 2010 to 2014 — a tenure recognized by the state for leading a nationally recognized school turnaround and earning a Four-Star School designation.  He was named District Superintendent of the Year in 2014 and received Ball State University’s Outstanding Alumni Award for Distinguished Leadership in Educational Achievement in 2015.

Earlier in his career, Brimbury taught Social Studies at Huntington North High School and served as an assistant coach in baseball and football from 1994 to 1997, giving him a personal and professional connection to the Huntington community that spans more than three decades.

In accepting the position, Brimbury pledged to continue building on the process already underway at HCCS while adding his own leadership imprint.  “My past history says that I’m a believer in students at a high level.  The culture is more important for kids than anything we do.  We will strive to meet the needs of every student, every day at Huntington County Community Schools.”  Superintendent Chuck Brimbury.
