From Viking to Entrepreneur

From Viking to Entrepreneur

Huntington, IN—Huntington North graduate Max Robrock exemplifies how HCCS prepares students for success beyond the classroom. Now a full-time college student and owner of a thriving landscaping and tree service business, Max credits his high school experiences with providing the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey.

Max’s business began simply—mowing his father’s rental properties at age 15. As word spread and clients increased, he realized landscaping could become more than a summer job. In November 2024, at age 18, Max established his LLC and launched his business officially. Today, he specializes in tree work, particularly hazardous tree removal, and plans to plant a tree for every one he removes starting in 2026.

The support Max received at Huntington North proved invaluable. Mr. Karst’s welding class taught him repair skills he uses daily. Mr. Park encouraged environmental stewardship that shaped Max’s business philosophy. Work-based learning through Mrs. Teusch provided flexibility to develop his skills. Most significantly, HCCS provided aid for Max to pursue his Class A CDL, opening opportunities to operate commercial vehicles essential for his growing business.

Max balances full-time college coursework in soil science and arboriculture with running his business, often working 60-80 hour weeks during peak season while coaching softball. His education provides the scientific knowledge that sets professionals apart in the lawn and tree industry.

Max’s philosophy centers on relationships and community impact rather than revenue. He reinvests profits into his community, supports mission work, and looks forward to investing in future students the way HCCS invested in him. His success demonstrates that with dedication, support, and the right opportunities, every student can find their path to success every day.
