Riverview teachers receive grants from CF Industries

Eight Riverview teachers received grants from CF Industries on WednesdayEight teachers at Riverview Middle School were awarded 2020 Classroom Minigrant grants for their classrooms by CF Industries on Wednesday. The grants received totaled $1,238.

Historically, teachers at Riverview have applied for and received the CF Industries grants focusing on agriculture and STEM, and this year was no different according to Riverview Principal James Bragg.

“CF Industries is a fantastic community partner interested in rewarding teachers for innovative ideas that broaden our students’ view of agriculture through the lens of science, technology, engineering and math,” Bragg said. “We are thankful for all that CF Industries does for the students of Huntington County Community Schools.”

Below are the teachers who received grants, the amount of grant money they received and what the grant money will be used for in their respective classrooms.

Lisa Geller — $168 for “Rain and Fire” — Through reading, students will learn how droughts and water shortages threaten the Earth’s supply of fresh water.
Heather Hiple, Mark Manganiello, Cyndi Niswander, Adreana Spohn — $150 — Students will design a slimly furnished sensory room within Riverview Middle School.
Les Hoffman — $500 for “Drones in Agriculture” — Show the daily impact of agriculture on students’ lives by focusing on activities that keep our environment safe while developing problem-solving skills.
Patty Jacobs — $170 for “New Periodic Table Chart” — Purchase a new, updated periodic table chart.
Marta Waldfogel — $250 for “All Ears for Reading” — Students will be able to listen to literature through audio books in class when the physical books are limited or not available.
