COVID-19 – Update #2

March 12, 2020

Huntington County Community School Corporation continues to closely follow new information being released regarding Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and meet daily with the Huntington County Department of Health (HCDH).  The HCDH shares the guidance given by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) including preventative action steps that we can take to make sure our students, staff, and parents are safe.  This is a very fluid situation and information is constantly changing.  The decisions regarding exposure and responses will be made in collaboration with the following agencies:  ISDH, HCDH, and EMA.   As of right now, Indiana has had 10 confirmed cases and none in Huntington County.  It is important to know that decisions on closing a school and for how long are done with the guidance of our county health department, which is communicating with ISDH.  There is much to be considered as we continue to make the safety of our students our top priority.

HCCSC is actively monitoring supplies, such as cleaning supplies and other personal protective equipment, to appropriately manage resources.  Teachers are incorporating handwashing lessons into their classrooms this week.

In addition to our regular updates, in the interim, you may find the following links helpful.  These credible resources below can provide up-to-date COVID-19 information:

HCCSC will continue to work with our state and local officials as we learn new information to stay aligned in our efforts.  We will continue to communicate any changes that occur in our plan on a daily/weekly basis.
